Judging by the comments section,? a religious war has been raging.
Can I just say, on behalf of Christians, we're not all retarded. Equally, there's no need to constantly bad-mouth religion because that can make you seem just as closed-minded =)

@ElProximo Did you know what epistemological barriers are?; all human being needs feel security about its own worldview, therefore, all person get defensive quickly? as soon this one detects a menace related with its worldview, this kind of fears help to keep epistemological barriers between different persons. Paul discourse in Athena Areopagus was more empathic than defensive (Facts 17)

@ElProximo My point ...
@ElProximo My point in relation of "convinced people" is more basic than yours. A lot of people go to church every sunday, however, a really tiny group from them would die for Jesus. Keep in mind human being is religious by nature. I observe creationist-evolutionist controversy from southamerican viewpoint: In USA this kind? of issue has political implications, but here, it's only a personal choosing.

if you would lay the Hebrew text (like the masoretic text) next to today's translations the text's would differ like a work of Tolkien and of J.K Rowling. they would be in the same genre, but their is where the similarity's end. so i am not that? surprised they would change such a thing. ancient text are so much better when unedited by bigots.

@ElProximo Leviathan is? one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper (see Hellmouth). The word has become synonymous with any large sea monster or creature. In classical literature (such as the novel Moby-Dick) it refers to great whales, and in Modern Hebrew, it means simply "whale."

@ElProximo uhh no? ...
@ElProximo uhh no? you can go buy his book and read it yourself, hes not being misquoted. and hes not the only one, other hebrew scholars agree that it was talking about the penis. and who are you to say im wrong in my own translation? you dont even know hebrew, and you sure as hell dont know how to read it. you're just mad that the bible you? know doesnt have the same meaning as the hebrew version so you're making random accusations that everyone is lying in some conspiracy against creationists.
@ElProximo wait, ...
@ElProximo wait, you dont even know who stephen mitchell is, yet you're claiming hes wrong and? somehow you know better? he is widely known for his translations and went to yale. and you're saying he would purposely translate it wrong just to disprove some random creationist idea?
northrop frye, was quoted in the new york times as calling stephen mitchell's book of job "a very direct translation." you see that? "direct". he didnt use the tail euphemism like the king james version.
@ElProximo Both ape ...
@ElProximo Both ape and hominoidea are forms of zoological taxonomy (obviously), and while the terms have been? expanded or retracted based on evidence (yes including apes, it was changed because it would be disingenuous *not* to include humans), it is not logical to say these terms are applied arbitrarily. All the terms are based on empirical similarities, and sifted into their specific positions based on where they are *most* similar. Not because they have a similarity, like bipedalism.
@ElProximo that is ...
@ElProximo that is what it sounds like when you read the old hebrew and many scholars including stephen mitchell agree. thats even what i thought it was talking about when i read it as a kid. so you cant just go irate and claim its fake, lie, antichristian, etc. just because it doesnt fit with your personal beliefs.
no translation is perfect, some words and meaning are always going to be lost. and? since the bible has been translated, edited, and re-translated so many times its no surprise.
@ElProximo ...
@ElProximo Hominoidea is real term. It is the Superfamily that includes all hominoids (monkeys, gorillas, humans etc), and "ape" is? the "common" term including all those members (yes, including humans). You might as well check your validity (i.e. google it) before attacking someone's integrity for it.
